2012-13: TDF

Where am I now?:
Show Map in Route…

2012-13: Los Angeles to Tierra del FuegoIt seems like each proceeding trip has had a named intention before I set out, so it is only fitting that this one has finally revealed itself… I declare this: “A Journey of Self Love.”A common reaction to hearing about my trip is to ask me “Why?”  The Adventure Trio’s motto pops in my head: “Don’t ask Why, but Why not?”  I thought the answer needed to be more than that.  I was lost in what to do with my life and I need to get out of Los Angeles, and traveling provides clarity for me.  But what it really boils down to is…it just sounded like a good idea and I have the means to do it, so Why Not?So this October 24, 2012, I have packed up all I have come to know of my residence in Los Angeles for the past 9 years and am heading south into an unfamiliar world to explore, to listen, to experience, to savor, and to watch with open eyes and an open heart yet another adventure on the road ahead.

As of August 10, 2012:

It has officially been announced!  Now just need to get my plans in order …

the Pan-American journey: let the roads from Los Angeles, CA lead me south to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, a.k.a “the end of the earth” (…and if I can fit it in…to visit the penguins in Antartica.)

  1. Alison, good luck and have a great trip! We specialize in South American motorcycle, so please let us know if you need any help with parts, tires, routes, etc.

See you down there, Jan-March (we’re running a few tours.)

  2. Good luck! I’m in Honduras not too far from Teguc teaching at a bi-lingual school. Do some research on the art of bribing police and military @ checkpoints. They like to give us gringos on motos a very hard time.

  3. I just found your blog and you are now my new hero. I had been following James Cole and Sherri Jo for a long time (and a couple other people) but reading about yours just made me put a plan in place. In two years my daughter is done with High school and after she leaves for college I’m taking 6 months off and I’m going to ride to Tierra Del Fuego. You just gave me the kick I needed, thanks 🙂

    • Woohoo! Congrats! That brings a smile to my face, thanks for the compliment and Buen Suerte on the journey. (Recommendation… Start learning Spanish now! That’s the number one thing I wish I had prepped better before leaving)
